The lemony tartness disguises all but the faintest kick of brandy in this refreshing highball. It’s perfect for a hot summer afternoon.
makes 1 highball | start to finish: 5 minutes
1 1/2 ounces brandy or cognac
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon sugar
6 ounces cider
optional garnish: 2 lemon twists
Fill a highball glass two thirds of the way with ice. Add the brandy, lemon and sugar on top of the ice. Cover the glass with a cocktail shaker and shake until the contents are well chilled. Top up the glass with cider, garnish with two twists of lemon zest and serve.
