Bench Grafting & Top Working Workshop

  • Allen Fire Station 9061 Avon Allen Road Bow, WA 98232

Gary Moulton, Pomologist & Orchardist instructs this hands-on workshop. Attendees will learn how to make bench grafts and how to topwork a larger tree in an orchard. For the bench grafts scionwood sourced from Cider & Perry varieties will be provided so attendee can graft onto their rootstocks and take them home and plant at end of day.  If student so desires they can bring their own apple or pear scionwood varieties for grafting.  Emphasis will be on techniques so students will have wood to practice with before completing the final grafts.

A field trip to a local orchard will follow and provide attendees the opportunity to topwork larger trees. Gary will demonstrate different grafting techniques followed by attendees grafting the larger trees in the orchard. Attendees should bring their own hand clippers.

Registration fee of $110.00 includes new pruning knife, beverages & lunch.
