Cider Riot and Coalition Brewing are excited to bring you “Samhain (Saah Win) Celebration for the Celtic New Year. As Halloween approaches many people are unaware of the true Celtic roots of this holiday. About 2000 years ago in Celtic Ireland people would celebrate the end of the lighter days moving into the darker days. At Samhain it is said the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through. From ancient history to modern folklore, tales of otherworldly encounters on Samhain Eve (October 31st) abound.
Celebrate Samhain with songs and stories of the Celts from Dublin native Phil Boyle and Cider Riot!’s Abram Goldman-Armstrong, who holds a Certificate in Irish Studies from University College Cork. Activities will include Turnip Carving, the original Jack o’ Lantern! With tasty festive brews from Cider Riot! and Coalition including the release of Coalition’s Lil Bo P.I.M.P, Bourbon Aged Pumpkin in Maple Porter, and Cider Riot!’s Super Tannic Ritual Blood Red Cider. We will also have a small altar for those who wish give offerings to their ancestors or for those who we wish to remember this past year. We will have a family friendly portion of the evening from 6-7 PM. Join the true celebration of this time of year. Slainte!
