History & Science of Cider Vol. 2

  • Portland Cider Co. Clackamas Taproom + Cidery (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

History & Science of Cider presented by Portland Cider Co. & Cider Riot

An educational class featuring cider tastings from across the world, including those true to the modern northwest cider craft. Led by the cider makers from both Cider Riot and Portland Cider Company, this class is for those with a passion for cider and the craft beverage industry, who want to get an in-depth look at the history, process, and modern interpretation of cider. Featuring nine or more tastings of cider from both European countries and here in Oregon. Limited to 42 guests, this is intended to be a personal, intimate gathering for cider lovers Oregon-wide.

Please note: This class will be similar in style and subject to the History & Science of Cider Vol. 1 class on Tuesday, June 20th. Although there will be slight differences, this 2nd class is being offered to provide an option for those closer to Clackamas. Plus, this event sold out last year so we wanted to be able to offer it to more folks by hosting it twice!

Held at Portland Cider Co. Clackamas Taproom, 8925 SE Jannsen Rd., Bldg. F, Clackamas, OR 97015

In honor of Oregon Cider Week, Eric Wheeler of Positively Portland Walking Tours is offering a special tour of the historic Albina neighborhood beginning and ending at my taproom. After the approximately 1-mile tour, enjoy a 12-oz cider included in the fee! And consider staying for the free screening of "The Last Man on Earth" (1964) starring Vincent Price starting at approximately 9pm.

Albina was the terminus of the first trans-continental railroad and an independent city before being incorporated into Portland in 1891. This was historically a neighborhood with a relatively high percentage of African-Americans. In the mid-20th century this district was an "urban sacrifice" area for the building of Memorial Coliseum and Interstate Highway 5.

Eric Wheeler is an architectural historian and transplant to Portland from the Midwest. He has a professional life in historic preservation and heritage tourism for 20 years.

$15 per person, 21+ only. Please purchase tickets in advance.

Shoot the Glass: Revival plus double dose of Mosaic hops
Sangria: Revival plus a blend of Portland Sangria
Return of the Brawndo: Fruit-flavored Revival with all-natural electrolytes
Revival Dry 2012
one more TBD
and Regular ole Revival Hard Apple
