Finnriver Releases New Sour Cider, ‘Pomona’s Nectar’ — Thursday September 7th at Chuck’s Hop Shop, Seattle, WA
Finnriver Farm & Cidery, located on the Olympic Peninsula, is set to release several special cider projects to celebrate the 6th annual Washington Cider Week from 9/8-9/18 2016.
Finnriver will release the latest in our farmcrafted sour series— Pomona’s Nectar— on Thursday, September 7th at Chuck’s Hop Shop at 656 NW 85th St, Seattle, WA 98117 at 5pm. Pomona’s Nectar (6.5% abv) is a creative cider variation inspired by Belgian fermentation traditions that continues Finnriver’s exploration into the roots and fruits of ‘sour’ culture. Fermented with organic apples and spiced up with the addition of organic nectarines from Tonnemaker Hill Farms in the Yakima Valley and organic white, green and black pepper. Lacto, Pedio and Bret worked their magic from early June to August and then the cider was bottle conditioned. The result contains the bitter twang of the nectarine and pepper on the out-breath, balanced by a strong bacterial acidity.
Chuck’s Hop Shop , a.k.a The Land of a Thousand Beers, is a pair of Seattle bottle shops that have been proudly serving in the Greenwood and Central District neighborhoods since 2010. Each locations houses hundreds of bottled beers, ciders, wines and mead from all over the world. Chuck’s 85th boasts 41taps and Chuck’s CD has 50. Each location has an outdoor patio, is family and dog friendly and a full schedule of rotating food trucks. Pomona’s Nectar will be exclusively on tap at both Chuck’s locations, to be enjoyed by the glass or part of a flight along with other Finnriver ciders. Limited bottles available at both location as well. If you plan on attending Cider Summit Seattle you will find this limited release being poured at the Finnriver table as well.
Additional special releases making an appearance in Seattle for Cider Week include the ‘crew selection’ Peachwood, Traditional Dry, Golden Russet, AppleBlueberry, and a range of our traditionally-inspired and contemporary ciders. To learn more about what’s pouring where, you can

Finnriver Cidery was founded in 2008 by partners Eric Jorgensen and Keith and Crystie Kisler. The roots of the cidery began in friendship and farmland and now, with several thousand heirloom cider trees in the ground, farming and fermenting continue side by side on 80 acres of protected Chimacum Valley soils, on the north Olympic Peninsula of Washington state. Finnriver farmcrafts a diverse line-up of award-wining contemporary and traditional ciders and seeks to reconnect people to the land that sustains us. Finnriver’s orchard is certified organic and certified salmon safe and the cidery is also a Certified B Corporation. Finnriver’s Cider Garden and Tasting room are open year round at 124 Center Road, Chimacum WA 98325.
