Brother team launches cidery focused on balanced, drinkable ciders
WOODINVILLE, Wash. – June 8, 2015 – Locust Cider, a new cidery that specializes in smooth, crisp ciders, is now available on tap in Seattle area bars and a Woodinville tasting room.
Founded by brothers Jason and Patrick Spears, Locust Cider started as a home based passion but quickly grew to become a full fledged cidery.
“Locust Cider was created for people who like cider without the sour bite, making it ideal for cider enthusiasts and newbies alike,” said co-founder Jason Spears. “Our cider is cold fermented for several weeks with carefully selected yeast strains to preserve the fresh fruit flavor. The result is a balanced, drinkable finish that is smooth, never bitter.”
The Locust Cider name hails from a time when company co-founder, Jason, was calmed by the gentle orchestra of locust in a field after a near death experience. Since then, locust have been a symbol of perseverance and a reminder to embrace life without compromise.
Locust Cider has several ciders available, including:
Original Dry: A smooth and lightly carbonated session cider with notes of clean apple and pineapple. Low residual sugar creates a refreshingly dry taste with a touch of sweetness.
Food pairings: Cuts through rich food like BBQ, but also ideal for an everyday cider.
Sizes: 6 pack of 12 oz cans, 22 oz. bottles and on tap in Seattle area bars and restaurants.
Green Tea Hard Cider: The infused Chinese (decaf) Green tea before and after fermentation adds a hint of bitterness but creates a clean and subtle balance of tea and apple flavors.
Food pairings: Complements spicy Asian dishes or bold Italian food.
Sizes: 4 pack of 12 oz bottles and on tap in Seattle area bars and restaurants.
Summer Berry: A seasonal cider, currently being offered at their tasting room. A hint of blueberry on the finish offers a uniquely flavored and refreshing cider without being overly sweet.
Dark Sweet Cherry: This seasonal and the sweetest Locust cider to date is blended with dark sweet Washington state cherries. Available in the tasting room and area bars and restaurants starting in July.
